FREE African Community Picnic

I moved from Nigeria to the United States by myself as a teenager to pursue my education and build a new life. Like many immigrants, I experienced the excitement of new opportunities alongside the challenge of being far from home and community. Over the years, Westchester has become home, but I also realized there were very few opportunities for people to experience the richness and diversity of African cultures or for Africans across the county to connect with one another.

That realization inspired me to create AfriCannect.

AfriCannect is more than an event organization—it’s a community initiative dedicated to bringing people together through authentic African food, music, culture, networking, and family-friendly experiences. Whether you have African roots, are new to the area, or are simply curious about learning about different cultures, you are welcome here.

My vision is to help make Westchester a place where cultural diversity is celebrated, local businesses thrive, meaningful friendships are formed, and everyone has the opportunity to experience the beauty of Africa without leaving their own community.
