It started with a connection.

AfriCannect’s journey came to life by bringing people together for our first community gathering August 23rd 2026 at Delfino Park. White Plains, NY
There was music. Food. Culture. Laughter. Performances. Families. New friendships. Familiar faces and new ones.
But more importantly, there was connection.
The AfriCannect Community Picnic was more than a day in the park. It was a reminder of what can happen when people come together with an open heart and a shared sense of community.
And this is only the beginning.

Hi, I am Aghogho Gabriella Emakpor
Hi, I am Aghogho Gabriella Emakpor
I moved from Nigeria to the United States alone as a teenager to pursue my education and build a new life. While Westchester has become home, I saw a need for more spaces where Africans, the African diaspora, and our wider community could connect and celebrate African culture.
That inspired AfriCannect—a growing, community-driven platform connecting Africans, the diaspora, and everyone who appreciates African culture.
We create opportunities for connection, empowerment, and wellness through cultural experiences, conversations, social gatherings, networking, youth development, skills-building, and community initiatives. Our goal is simple: to help people connect, grow, celebrate, and feel a stronger sense of belonging.
AfriCannect is building a more connected Westchester—where culture is celebrated, local businesses can thrive, and meaningful opportunities are open to all.
And we’re just getting started.
